BBC Wales

 

  • Pitched an exclusive story to the High Impact Team, which was commissioned and published on the BBC News website and reported on Wales Today.

  • Wrote the article: Took the lead in writing the main article, ensuring it was clear, engaging, and factually accurate.

  • Conducted interviews: Reached out to key contributors, conducted interviews, and gathered relevant quotes to enhance the story's depth.

  • Planned and edited digital output: Collaborated with the team to ensure the online version of the story was edited for digital audiences for TikTok and Instagram; from planning the structure to editing the content for publication.

  • Helped edit video packages: Worked closely with the production team to edit and compile video packages, ensuring they aligned with the story and maintained a high standard of quality.

  • Spent time in the gallery: Observed the live shows going out, gaining valuable experience in understanding how the story was presented on air and the fast-paced nature of broadcast journalism.

 

ITV Wales 

 

  • Assisted the digital team by writing articles that were published on ITV News Wales:

  • Filming and scripting: Joined a reporter on location to film a segment and actively assisted with scripting for the live broadcast.

  • Contributed to package editing: Played a key role in editing a package that was later featured on the 6:00 news, ensuring the final product was clear and engaging.

  • Participated in planning meetings: Attended and contributed to all daily planning meetings, ensuring smooth coordination for the news coverage.

  • Fixed contributors: Responsible for calling and confirming relevant contributors for different stories, ensuring they were well briefed and comfortable going on air. 

 

LBC

 

  • Experienced writing for different commercial radio audiences: Gained valuable experience writing content tailored to a variety of commercial radio stations, including Smooth Radio and Capital, adjusting style and tone to suit their distinct audiences.

  • Created a demo bulletin: Wrote and recorded my own demo news bulletin for Smooth Radio, showcasing my ability to craft engaging content for radio.

  • Assisted with producing the Shelagh Fogarty show: Contributed to the production of the Shelagh Fogarty show at 3pm.

  • Managed call-ins for the show: Proactively rang up callers and confirmed their involvement in the show, ensuring they were prepared and ready for airtime.

  • Observed the Sports Agent Podcast production meeting: Participated in the Sports Agent Podcast production meeting, gaining insight into the process behind podcast development and contributing ideas to the show’s planning.

 

CJS News 

  • Produced live radio and TV bulletins: Took the lead in producing both live radio and TV bulletins, including creating detailed running orders and managing a team to ensure everything ran smoothly on air.

  • Sourced and reported on my own stories: Took responsibility for sourcing and reporting my own stories, delivering them for both TV and radio broadcasts.

  • Worked under tight deadlines: Thrived in fast-paced environments, consistently meeting deadlines and using creative approaches to tell stories effectively on air.

  • Live broadcast experience: Successfully delivered a live broadcast from St Mary’s Street for the 4:00 show, handling the logistics and communication during the broadcast.

  • Published engaging social media content: Managed social media accounts, publishing content across TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter, which received positive engagement and interaction from audiences.

  • Published SEO-optimised articles: Contributed articles to the website with a strong focus on SEO to increase online visibility and engagement, ensuring the content was optimised for search engines.

  • Trained in Data Journalism, and in how to use a Panasonic CX350.

Global Wales 

 

  • Interviewed high-profile guests: Took part in interviewing prominent figures such as Mark Drakeford, ensuring professional and engaging conversations with high-profile guests.

  • Sourced and reported on my own story: Independently sourced my own story, carefully researching and gathering information about food banks for people suffering in Ukraine.

  • Interviewed contributors for radio package: Conducted interviews with key contributors for a radio package, ensuring the content was relevant, informative, and engaging for the audience.

  • Broadcasted on national radio: Successfully produced and broadcasted the radio package on national radio, ensuring it met editorial standards and resonated with a wide audience.


 

Walk for Pia

 

  • Collaborated with Pancreatic Cancer UK: Worked closely with Pancreatic Cancer UK to create and produce a dedicated website for a charity walk organised in memory of my mum, ensuring the site effectively communicated the cause and encouraged support.

  • Managed social media platforms: Took full responsibility for managing all social media platforms related to the charity walk, developing content strategies that drove high engagement and interaction across multiple channels.

  • Created engaging content: Crafted compelling posts, stories, and updates to connect with the audience, increasing awareness for the cause and encouraging donations.
